Steel Building Insulation in Virginia
Steel Building Insulation, a division of Building Outlet Corp., has provided Virginia contractors, architects and do-it-yourselfers with top-quality, name-brand insulated metal panels and products for both new construction insulation projects and insulation retrofit applications for more than 30 years.
Installing a highly functional insulation system in a metal building’s roof or walls at the time of construction is the most efficient option. Adding on additional insulation or repairing damaged, torn or wet insulation is called retrofitting insulation. Steel Building Insulation also provides insulation and accessories for insulation retrofit projects, or for projects involving installing insulation into existing buildings. In fact, given today’s skyrocketing energy costs, more than half of all the vinyl-faced fiberglass insulation volume we distribute nationally is now used in insulation retrofit application.
When wall insulation is installed during construction, insulation blankets are generally provided in 6″ wide rolls, which are then rolled out from eave to base and affixed to the red iron with double-faced tape. The tape holds the insulation blankets in place before the addition of the wall panels. Many consumers choose to include tabs, or extensions of the facings with factory pre-applied adhesives, which hold multiple pieces of insulation together at the seams.
Tabs are also useful in metal roof insulation installation, and can be either taped or non-taped. In such new construction applications, the insulation blankets are distributed perpendicularly to the purlins before the roof panel is installed. To achieve the highest possible R-value, it is advised that a banding system, or two-layer insulation system supported by steel bands, be used.
Whether installed at the time of construction or in retrofit application, insulating your metal building comes with a variety of benefits. Most notably, a high-functioning insulation system will result in tremendous energy savings over the lifetime of your metal building. Additional benefits include enhanced user comfort, condensation and sound control, and better light reflectivity.
Our insulation panels and insulation blankets are crafted from highly-resilient fiber glass and are available with a variety of facing options, and offer high R-values that offer substantial resistance to heat transfer, resulting in lower utility costs from the time of installation. Facings are available in both white vinyl and polypropylene, and range from light-duty, low-cost WMP-VR to the extremely heavy-duty, high impact GYMGUARD materials. Our insulation rolls are are available in 3’, 4’, 5 and 6’ standard-width roll sizes, and can be delivered to virtually any accessible building site. Our products are professionally color-coded, pre-cut rolls intended to simplify the installation process.
While Arizona does not currently have any statewide energy codes for commercial structures, our metal building insulation product line adheres to the standards set by the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA), and are fire-resistant and non-combustible.
