How Much Do Foam Insulated Metal Panels Cost?
Foam-insulated metal panels deliver excellent thermal performance, resulting in significantly lower energy costs for your steel building. They also offer a range of additional benefits. They help prevent air and moisture from penetrating your building, which lengthens its lifespan and integrity. They also give your metal building’s interior a clean, finished look, which enhances its aesthetic appeal.
Using foam-insulated panels when constructing your steel building saves you big money over time, but how much might it cost you upfront? Ultimately, the final cost of your panels will depend on several factors, among them:
Your choice of an exterior metal skin
The R-value of the foam-insulated panels
Your choice of an interior metal liner
Typically, most buyers pay somewhere in the range of $7 to $14 per square foot for foam insulated panel materials only. (*Prices are subject to change due to inflation and availability.) The labor to install can add $1 or more per sq foot however there is a tradeoff using this all in one single assembly compared to other assemblies which include outer panel, fiberglass insulation with interior liner. The lower figure represents what you might expect to pay for a 2”, approx. R-15 value insulation system, while the higher quote is closer to what you might pay for an 8”, R-48 insulation system.
Additional Options
Worried about sound-proofing? Looking for flame-resistant foam panels? You have options in both of these areas, among others, but keep in mind that adding such features may lead to additional costs.
Most people find that their insulation packages quickly pay for themselves in recouped energy costs, after which they deliver substantial energy savings year after year.
